Rotary Tiller

The DMS rotary tiller enables professional soil preparation directly with the excavator already on site. Instead of costly material transport or purchasing or renting additional special-purpose machinery, the soil is loosened, mixed and screened in a single pass. The reverse-tilling principle creates a fine, crumbly surface and optimum conditions for seeding and revegetation. Optional accessories such as sweeping rollers or weed brushes can further increase excavator utilization. This allows users to reduce costs and maintenance requirements, save time and gain the flexibility to respond to changing construction-site requirements at any time.

Rethinking soil preparation

On many construction sites, soil preparation still involves considerable organizational and financial effort. Separate special-purpose machines are often required for this and must also be transported, rented or purchased. This not only creates additional costs but also increases dependence on the availability of these machines, adding to the coordination required for personnel, logistics and site planning.

Especially when construction schedules change at short notice or adjustments are needed due to weather, such processes quickly reach their limits.

Alternatively, to avoid this organizational effort, the existing turf is removed and new topsoil is brought in – an approach that incurs costs and ties up resources. The result is higher project costs, lower utilization of existing machinery, more complex workflows and additional time pressure on the construction site.

Prepare the soil instead of just tilling it

The DMS rotary tiller takes a different approach. I It enables professional soil preparation directly with the existing excavator, turning it into a versatile tool. It is based on the reverse-tilling principle. During operation, the rotor picks up the existing material, carries it over the tilling shaft and throws it against a screen. Coarser material such as roots, turf or stones bounces off the screen and is worked deep into the soil, while fine material passes through the screen and is deposited on the surface. The soil is thus intensively worked and screened at the same time. This creates an optimum soil structure for subsequent planting, with a fine, crumbly surface and an even seedbed. The need for manual finishing work is significantly reduced. With the reverse-tilling principle, the tiller blades cut from below and pull the rotary tiller into the soil. However, this force is transferred back into the ground by the depth-adjustable support feet, creating a balanced distribution of forces. The excavator arm guides the rotary tiller but does not have to absorb the forces generated by soil preparation, making operation easy even for inexperienced users.

An optional grid roller is available to further improve the tilling result. It levels the soil again and provides light recompaction.

Designed for tough construction-site conditions

The DMS rotary tiller was developed specifically for the demands of modern construction sites. The focus was not only on tilling performance but above all on practical benefits for the user. A fully enclosed housing ensures clean work results. Trailing front and rear flaps automatically adapt to the working depth and help control material flow. Enclosed, side-mounted support feet prevent unwanted material discharge and help produce an even tilling result. The support feet are also adjustable and particularly robust, allowing precise setting of the working depth. This ensures consistent working results. To further increase utilization, the DMS rotary tiller is equipped with a quick-change system for the tool shafts, allowing optional sweeping rollers or weed brushes to be used. DMS uses a direct hydraulic drive with high power density. The compact design enables high-performance operation while requiring little space. A particularly practical feature is its suitability for different excavator sizes. Because no case drain line is required, the rotary tiller can be operated easily on many carrier machines.

Robust materials, durable components and a low-maintenance design ensure high reliability in daily use. The rotary tiller is designed to remain ready for use even under demanding conditions and to minimize downtime.

The economic advantage for the user

The greatest added value of the DMS rotary tiller lies in its ability to make better use of existing resources. Instead of keeping or renting additional special-purpose machines, the excavator already present on the construction site is used for additional tasks.

This increases the utilization and cost-effectiveness of the existing machine fleet. Machinery and rental costs can be reduced while transport requirements and organizational tasks are eliminated. Soil preparation is carried out directly on site, shortening travel distances, accelerating project workflows and increasing productivity.

This has a direct positive impact on project margins.

Improving workplace safety

Regardless of the carrier machine used, operating a rotary tiller always involves certain risks for the operator. With a walk-behind unit, the operator is very close to the tiller and has to control the high engine power by hand. Stones or roots in the soil can cause sudden movements that the operator must control.

When working on a slope or embankment, there is a risk that the entire machine could tip over and roll downhill.

Preparing the soil with an excavator avoids these hazards and enables safe, comfortable operation.

In summary, the DMS rotary tiller is an economical, flexible and powerful solution for modern contractors. It helps make construction sites more efficient, improve workplace safety and make optimum use of the potential of existing machinery.
